| Update September 20,
2007: If you have not heard through the gossip line, the Giant Food Store in the plaza will be closing its doors by October 11, 2007. This will probably have some effect on the traffic that the other tenants will see in the coming future. Until the Rappaport Co takes some action on the Plaza please continue to support the tenants. Update, March 6, 2007:
Pointer ridge Plaza has finally been
sold to the Rappaport Company. Mr. Rappaport took over the plaza on March
1, 2007. Hopefully we will start to see improvements in the near future.
On February 26, 2007 the Rappaport Company gave its plan for
voluntary hazard chemical cleanup for the plaza to the Maryland Department
of the Environment. They will review it and accept it or recommend changes.
Our Association has been requesting the current owner, Mr. Atlas, to take some steps to improve the safety and appearance of the Plaza. We, as well as the city of Bowie, have met with little progress in obtaining any action on his part. Mr. Gary Rappaport will become the new owner of the plaza as of September 1, 2006. In our meeting with Mr. Rappaport he advised us that he intends to improve the Plaza within a year of purchase and make it compatible with Amber Ridge when he begins to build the new center.
